Food Forest

A food forest is a human-designed garden that seeks to mimic a natural ecosystem. It uses a wide variety of perennial plants to create a system of low-inputs and high-outputs. The idea is to choose plants best adapted to our climate and ecosystems so that we have a low-maintenance, self-regulating food system that provides resources for wildlife as well as humans.

The fall of 2011 is when we will begin the planning phases of Providence's first public food forest in Roger Williams Park.
